ABOUT LAUREN:

I believe that a great headshot is like a great handshake. It’s the first impression that sets the tone for the work to follow. Whether you’re an LA based actor, professional, or just starting to build your personal brand, you need a photographer who listens, cheers you on, and allows you to shine. After 12 years of shooting actor headshots in Los Angeles, I’ve developed a specific system that quickly gets you comfortable, connected, and consistently delivers great shots that open doors.

Consider me your coach. I'm at my best while interacting and directing you on how to work the camera like a pro. To me, there’s nothing like listening to your goals, collaborating on a clear vision, and making sure you feel amazing in front of the camera while we make it all happen. I am an expert level listener and not afraid of directing you in order to feel comfortable and confident in front of the lens. I look forward meeting you and getting you some killer headshots!

HEALTH AND SAFTY PROTOCOLS:

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to do things a little differently leading up to each photoshoot in effort to keep our clients and studio team as safe as possible. Each client is required to reschedule if they’ve shown any symptoms associated with Covid-19 within 14 days of the shoot or have been in contact with anyone who has shown symptoms or been diagnosed within 14 days of the shoot. Retainers will not be forfeited for Covid related reschedules as long as the studio is notified within 4 hours of shoot time.

24 hours before your shoot, I will send you a symptoms checklist and liability release form that you’ll need to fill out before coming to the studio. We are closely following and abiding by the county masking recommendations. The Studio will be aired out and everything in the prep and shooting area will be thoroughly sanitized before your arrival, as well as all other touch points in the studio.

* We are fully vaccinated and boosted

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

+ WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE SHOOT?

Before we meet, we'll have a photo consultation call so you can tell me a little about yourself, your headshot goals, ideal casting, and the looks you'll be preparing. This will give us a clear idea of exactly what you are expecting from the shoot, so we can hit the ground running when you arrive. When you get to the studio we'll go through your final outfits, choose complementary backgrounds, and get shooting. You can expect a relaxed and collaborative process. We test out things, review the shots on my computer as we go, make sure we love what we see, and if not, adjust until you're happy. It goes by fast and we get a ton of great shots while having fun at the same time.

+ WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

Your deposit to lock in your session time is non-refundable so if you decide to cancel it will be forfeited. However if you need to reschedule and notify me at least 72 hours in advance, I'm happy to transfer that deposit to your new session. If you no-show or need to reschedule within 72 hours of your session, your deposit is forfeited.

+ DO I NEED MAKEUP?

Professional makeup application is highly recommended, especially for women. However I've found that even men benefit from having their skin evened out, an extra set of eyes on them, and some outside perspective on different ways to style their hair. I have a list of awesome makeup artists I work with regularly that I can send upon request. You are welcome to book someone off of that list or bring an artist that you love to work with. For the Quick Shesh, if you book a makeup artist, your hour starts once you are finished with the initial application and we start shooting.

+ HOW SHOULD I PLAN MY WARDROBE?

I will send you extensive preparation info when you book that will help you get an idea of things that work and don’t work on camera. If you want further guidance we'll set up a time to talk on the phone or over zoom and go over your looks, wardrobe, and any questions you still have. I also highly encourage you to go over all of your looks and wardrobe options with your representation.

+ WHEN AND HOW DO I GET MY IMAGES AFTER WE SHOOT?

My turn around time is 24-48 hours. Yes, you read right. You get your pictures back lightning fast! After your shoot I'll send you an email with your own personal online gallery link where you can view your images and share them with your team. You will also receive a download link that you can click and download a .zip file of all the proof sized images you see in your gallery. A certain number of retouched print sized images are included in your session. Once you make your final selections from your proofs, you'll let me know your picks via the online gallery and they will be retouched and turned around to you in 5-7 business days. Your final print sized images will be polished and ready to go for your personal promotion use. Additional retouched hi-res images can be purchased for $45. Additional licensing can be purchased as well.

+ WILL I NEED RETOUCHING?

I highly recommend retouching your final selected images that you will be using in print and online. After your session I will go through and delete any images that were blinks, or light tests etc. and then I do global adjustments on all of the images to make sure the color, tone, and exposure are good. For your choice images I offer in house retouching for $45 per image. Retouching ensures that any non-permanent, distracting elements are removed from your image (blemishes, uneven skin, stray hair, flyaways etc.). Your retouches are also sharpened and further polished to look their absolute best on any platform, and then delivered in both Hi Res and Web Formatted files.

+ WHAT CAN I USE MY PHOTOS FOR?

You are free to use the images from your shoot for headshot, social media, personal websites and all casting purposes. All images are owned and remain the copyright of Lauren Hurt. Social media posts must be credited and tagged @laurenhurtphoto. For any other purposes (Print Media, Press announcements, print & online Magazine, or Advertising) please contact Lauren directly.

+ DO YOU DO RE-SHOOTS?

My number one goal is to get you awesome headshots that you love, that look like you. I shoot with my camera connected to a monitor so you can see every images that we shoot, as we shoot it if you want. Because of this, you are able to immediately see if you don't like how a look is going and we can change it up. I wont keep shooting if you don’t love it, and since this is a collaboration, I expect you to tell me if you aren't feeling it. I also expect you to come fully prepared to shoot – hair and makeup taken care of, wardrobe carefully planned out and prepped for camera, and you yourself physically and mentally prepared. Because of this attention to detail and the constant communication during our shoot, I don't do re-shoots. I find that the number one killer of a headshot session is the subject not coming prepared, and that is something I can't hold myself responsible for. So I encourage you to do everything you can to have a clear vision of your marketing and range, making sure your wardrobe, skin, and hair are up to Hollywood standards, and that you have communicated with your team extensively about exactly what they are wanting and expecting. If all of those ducks are in a row, we will have an amazing shoot!
